Down, Broken, and Discouraged

The Lord placed on my heart this morning to speak to those who have been down, broken, and discouraged. You may feel like you dont have the strength to keep going. Day by day you are just finding yourself trying to keep busy;but all awhile you heart is broken. You are trying to see your way out of the situation, but have began to feel discouraged. I often think at these moments of despair God is just waiting for us to come to him.

Then there those who have been in the fire, chaos after chaos, wondering when you will reach the promise land that were once said over you in the past few years. You have been beated by others through word curses, betrayal, secret jealousy, envy, and hatred. Truth be told Jesus felt

the same way you are feeling right now. Isaiah 53:5 says "But he was wounded for our transgressions: he was broken for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes are we healed".

A man name Jesus who came in the flesh as God was completely broken leading up to the cross. He managed to let the Holy Spirit do the work. There are some of you that are carrying wounds in your heart of offense, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, resentment, depression, and anxiety. I want you to know today you are not alone in this. Jesus took up the mental anguish and suffered a broken heart in the midst of being nailed to the cross. There is nothing to hard for him to do in your life. He is waiting for you to surrender your heart to him.

When you have personal relationship with someone you love, vulnerability comes easy because you trust them. Many of us suffer with trusting others because we fail to trust the one who created us. We fail to accept our Heavenly Father wont hurt us or love us. One thing I have realized is that God desires for us to be broken in spirit. You may be wondering why would God want you to feel this way?

Could it be that in suffering and brokenness you would remain close to him? Could it be that he needed you to realize your need and dependence on him? Could it be that because he was broken we too have to become broken to remain humble? Could it be that when you are down, broken, and discouraged you can get the desired healing that is needed? Psalms 34:18 says "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit". He has never left you and he is the only one that can rescue you out of that pit. I know you have cried many nights thinking how you will recover from this situation and you will. What if this was your process for the greater? Many times we try to blame the devil but sometimes places us in situations to get you to become more like him.

Isaiah 61:1 says ”The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;“ You may believe this scripture is for only those are called out or sent out. But what if Jesus was refering to you?

We all carry something that is beneficial to the Kingdom of God. But, you have to believe his word 100%. There is no doublemindness in scripture. It is full proof, faith filled and infallible. If the Lord has anointed you preach good news why are you not preaching it to yourself? If he has sent you to bind up the broken heart why have you not bound these thoughts and strongholds in your mind to make you believe you are held captive? You are the one ☝🏽he has chosen! If the power of Jesus Christ is on the inside of you, you already have the victory!

Prophesy your way out of the bondage and the prison that has held back your destiny. Have you ever thought about those who spend their entire life in prison, over something they committed in the eyes of the law. Never knowing their purpose or identity. Never fulfilling the calling upon their life. But in repeated cycles of the same motion and notion that one day you will leave but never do.

You are not down and out! You are not the outcast! You are not alone! You are not a broken record! You are not depressed! Never come into agreement with your negative thoughts and lies the devil throws your way. In book of Psalm 42, we see david cast down in his soul. While he was living for God, he was being oppressed. He was depressed, suffering anxiety, and feeling like the devil had got over on him. He was battling in the mind ”and my God. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar".(Psalm‬ ‭42‬:‭6). Mizar means insignificant or brought low.

David remember who God was and is ! He knew he was living waters and all he had to do was tap into the source. This is your word today. No matter what it looks like. Tap into the source. Let his presence wash over you to break those barriers. Here are a few verses to meditate on today:

Psalm 46:1-2

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

Psalm 62:8

Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.

James 5:13

Is anyone among you suffering?

Psalm 71:20

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.

Prayer:

Dear God, I need you Lord. I surrender to you every part of me. My heart is a mess of shattered pieces and I don’t know how to find hope. I know my sadness isn’t your desire, but the pain is so real. It hurts so deeply. God, I sometimes wonder if there’s something wrong with me. I feel desperate to shield my heart from pain, people, and everything. I hold it tightly, sinking into my tears, and forgetting that you are stronger than any storm.

Help me, God, to release my shame and grief freely to you. Help me invite you in. I’ve been so damaged by wounds inflicted, that I’m afraid my heart is beyond repair. I come to you today, God, still afraid, still wondering, but willing to show you my heart. Will you hold it? Will you please pour your peace into the open cuts? Cover me with your presence, remind me you are near. Show me your love and give me the strength to heal and overcome. Fill me with joy and gladness as I come into your presence. Release your healing balm ovee me today in Jesus name, Amen.
